Selehe Bembury x New Balance 2002R
LA based designer, Selehe Bembury collaboration with 2002R silhouette was definitely one of the highlights of New Balances year. Inspired by his recent hiking explorations, the pair sports a burnt orange upper alongside hairy suede panels and perforated mesh underlays.
The colour, textures and depth collide to create a visually striking pair. Plus, he drafted in none other than actor “Jessie Williams“f or the campaign as final touches for the release.
Aime Leon Dore x New Balance
Teddy Santis New York based label has built a strong relationship a strong relationship with New Balance, releasing a few collaborative efforts over the pass year. Inspired by New York’s court culture, originally released in 1989 the 550 basketball Oxford silhouette returned with a few minor adjustments.
Joe Freshgoods x New Balance NB992
Chicago based retailer Joe Freshgoods teamed up with New Balance to spread a little love on their resurging NB992 silhouette. Released on Valentine day, his central motto ‘No Emotions are emotion” laid the foundation for the design of the release. As a homage to love and the anatomy of the heart, hues of reds and pinks coat the sueded upper. A defining moment for both brands, Joe Freshgoods took to Instagram to state “we are about to make history” in reference to the release, “we about to show people what we can do. Let’s have fun and re-write history baby. My sweet love, New Balance.
JJJ Rounds x New Balance
From a blog to a loved streetwear brand, Montreal based JJJ round collaboration with New Balance continues their minimalist approach on the 992 silhouette. Coated in their signature earthy tones, the release includes two pairs featuring industrial brown and mossy green uppers.
WTAPS x New Balance 992
It seems the currently that that the resell market determines the success of a release. If we go by this, WTAPS collaboration on the 992 hit the mark with pairs currently sitting on StockX for £900+. Not bad for the first time they linked up with revered Tokyo based label.
